WINGATE, N.C. - Christian Hatley's first-half goal wasn't enough for the No. 24 men's soccer team as it fell to No. 11 Florida Tech 5-1 on Thursday.
Lander begins the season 0-1-0 while Florida Tech begins the season 1-0-0.
How It Happened
After the Bearcats conceded the opening goal in the 16th minute of action, Hatley tucked away a penalty kick to tie the game at 1-1 in the 40th minute.
Florida Tech would score four unanswered goals in the second half to take the 5-1 victory.

- 10 players made their Bearcat debut. Mika Lankhof, Euan Bunn, Jamie Escos Castillo, Daniel Prieto, Rashawn Kellman, Juan Rodriguez, Zach Meyer, Carson Graves, Darius Wallace and Hatley all played their first game for Lander.
- Rodriguez made six saves in his collegiate debut.
- Lander put six of its eight shots on goal.
- Lander is now 1-2-1 all-time against FIT after tying 1-1 in the NCAA Tournament last season.
