ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. - The Lander baseball team fell in the final game of its series with the Flagler Saints 7-4 on Sunday.
Tyler Prell led the Bearcats with two hits on the day while a two-run home run gave Lucas Martino the lead in RBI against Flagler.
Lander drops to 18-24 overall and 12-12 in the PBC while Flagler moves to 13-27 overall and 9-15 in the PBC.
Flagler did most of its damage in the third inning with six runs coming around to score for the Saints.
Lander would tack on two runs in the fifth inning.
With two outs, Prell would hit the first of four consecutive singles to keep the inning alive. Gary Garrett would hit a single to the shortstop to put runners on first and second while a single from Oliver Zohn brought Prell home to make it a 6-1 game. Will McClellan would follow that up with a single up the middle to bring home Garrett for the second run of the inning.
Flagler would add one more run in the seventh to advance the lead to 7-2.
After Connor Droze earned one of his three walks on the day in the eighth inning, Martino would send a pitch over the left-field wall for a two-run blast to get Lander within three runs of the Saints.
Bennett Nance got the start and was awarded the loss. Nance threw 2.2 innings where he allowed five runs on six hits while striking out five.
Matthew Ellis, Cooper King and Evan Demurias all saw appearances in relief as well.
Lander returns to Dolny Stadium this week as the Bearcats host Francis Marion on Tuesday and Young Harris for the final home PBC series of the regular season starting Friday.
