Gulf Shores, Ala. - Lander rolled past Montevallo 7-3 in their second game of the day to earn a split for the second straight day at the Gulf Shores Invitational. Lander lost to Saint Leo 5-3 earlier in the day.
Game One
In the bottom of the first, Rylee Omahen laced a one-out single and then advanced to second on a passed ball. Abbie Behe then singled to left-center to put runners on the corners. With two outs, Logan Coward tripled down the left-field line to score two and give the Bearcats the lead. Saint Leo answered with three straight runs to take a 3-2 lead. In the bottom of the fourth, Coward led off with a single. Regan Lunsford laid down a sacrifice to move pinch runner Jillian Terpennin into scoring position. Later in the inning, Saje Jones reached on an infield single to put runners at first and third. Terpennin later scored on a wild pitch to tie the game at three. The Lions scored two runs in the seventh to take the lead and hold on for the win. Coward was 3-3 with a triple and two RBIs to lead the Bearcat offense. Rylee Omahen finished 1-2 with a run scored, and Abbie Behe was 1-3 with a run scored. Taylor Scott (1-1) took the loss, allowing two runs on five hits in 3.2 innings of work.
Game Two
In the top of the first, Omahen singled to center and scored on a double by Behe to give Lander the lead. Later in the inning, Behe scored on a ground out by Emily Allen to make it a two-run game. In the top of the second, Shannon Antonini led off with a walk and stole second. She then scored on a single to center field by Naya Jones to make it 3-0. The Bearcats blew the game wide open in the third with back-to-back RBI doubles by Allen and Barbara Cook. Cook later scored when Antonini reached on an error. Later in the inning, Antonini scored on a single by Naya Jones to make it 7-0.
Abbie Behe led Lander at the plate, going 2-4 with a double, RBI, and two runs scored. Cook finished 1-3 with a double and RBI, while Allen was 1-4 with a double, two RBIs, and one run scored. Bailey Pattison (1-0) picked up the win allowing three runs on six hits in four innings of work.
