GREENWOOD – The Lander baseball team fell to No. 5 Columbus State 7-2 Saturday afternoon at Dolny Stadium for the second game of the series.
Lander falls to 3-10 overall and 2-3 in the PBC while Columbus State advances to 11-2 overall and 5-0 in the PBC.
Columbus State struck first with three runs in the first inning while adding another two runs in the third.
Lander would see two runs come off the bat of
Will McClellan as a two-RBI double down the left field line to score
Connor Droze and
Dawson Campbell.
Columbus State would score one run in the eighth and ninth inning to take its 7-2 win.
Evan Demurias got the start and picked up the loss. He threw six innings where he allowed five runs, four earned while walking three and striking out two.
Tyler Overholt pitched the remaining three innings.
Lander and Columbus State conclude the series on Sunday, February 26 for a 1 pm start.
