GREENWOOD - Lander outscored Claflin 46-27 in the second half to beat the Panthers 83-64 and pick up their seventh straight win.
With the Bearcats trailing 4-3 early in the first half, Inady Legiste would make two-straight layups and drain a three-point basket to give Lander a 10-4 lead. Later in the half, Dominic Stanford would hit a three-pointer to give Lander a 21-17 lead, but the Panthers would use a 16-3 run over the next five minutes to take a 33-24 lead.
A layup by Phillip Burwell and another three-point basket from Legiste cut the deficit to four points. Trailing 35-34 with 1:40 remaining in the half, Connor McKay drained a three-pointer to give Lander the lead again. Claflin would score with less than two seconds remaining to tie the game heading into intermission.
The Bearcats would take a 41-39 lead with baskets by Tommy More and Legieste. With Lander leading 44-43 and the 15:26 mark, Torin Andrews drained a three-pointer that sparked a 21-1 run by the Bearcats to make it a 65-44 game, and Lander would cruise to the 83-64 victory.
Legiste led the Bearcats with his first double-double, finishing with a season-high 23 points and 10 rebounds. Connor McKay came off the bench to score 15 points on 6-7 shooting, and Dominic Stanford added 14 points. Tommy Moore finished with 10 points, while Phillip Burwell had a game-high nine assists.
