Men's soccer draws with Flagler 1-1

GREENWOOD - The Lander men's soccer team would earn another tie as it drew 1-1 with the Flagler Saints on Wednesday afternoon.

Lander moves to 4-4-4 overall and 3-1-2 in the PBC while Flagler moves to 3-5-4 overall and 2-3-2 in the PBC.

How It Happened 

The Bearcats and Saints would settle for a scoreless first half after a barrage of shots from Lander. The Blue and Gold put 4-of-6 shots on goal in the first half while limiting the Saints to just two attempted shots.

The second half saw chances from both sides. Flagler would be first to strike as a free kick helped set up a goal in the 79th minute. 

38 seconds later the Bearcats got the game tied at 1-1. After Julien Sagnol found Christian Hatley on a throw-in, Hatley sent a cross into the box where Zach Meyer headed in the tying goal.

  • Meyer becomes the eighth goal scorer for Lander this season.
  • Lander is now 16-6-3 all-time against the Saints.
