MORROW, GA. - The Lander men's soccer team collected its third consecutive shutout as it defeated Clayton State 1-0 on the road on Wednesday.
Lander improves to 4-2-3 overall and 3-0-1 in the PBC while Clayton State drops to 3-4-2 overall and 2-3-0 in the PBC.
Neither the Bearcats nor Lakers were able to score in the first half, although both sides had quality chances. Lander put three shots on target in the first frame compared to five shots on goal from the Lakers.
The game's opening, and only goal, wasn't scored until the 49th minute of play when
Kevin Pierre fed
Carson Dinger for his third goal of the season.
Lander put two shots on goal in the second half for a total of five shots on goal for the contest. Clayton State put two shots on goal in the second half for seven total in the contest.
Lorenzo Ferrari made seven saves against the Lakers for his second shutout of the season. Ferrari is now 1-0-1 in goal for the Bearcats.
The Bearcats head to Georgia Southwestern for their next match to face the Hurricanes on Saturday, September 24.
