Men's soccer falls 3-2 in a close contest to No. 13 Palm Beach Atlantic

WEST PALM BEACH, FLA. - The Lander men's soccer team took a 2-2 tie into the half with No. 13 Palm Beach Atlantic but were unable to secure points against the Sailfish as the Bearcats fell 3-2 on the road.

Lander falls to 1-1-1 overall while Palm Beach Atlantic advances to 3-0-0 overall.

The Bearcats took 19 shots against PBA, with 10 chances going on goal. The Sailfish saw their keeper make eight saves.

The Bearcats found themselves down 2-0 in the 29th minute of action to PBA, but a freekick from Kevin Rubaszewski found the back of the goal in the 32nd minute to make things close. Lander would tie the contest in the 45th minute of play. After a shot from Aingeru Aguirre that was saved, Max Bolton came in and shoveled home the tying goal to bring Lander even with the Sailfish.

Lander and Palm Beach Atlantic would stay tied through the 58th minute before the go-ahead goal for the Sailfish was scored with 58:36 left in the second half to push the home squad in front.

The Bearcats put three of their six shots on goal in the second half, but couldn't find the equalizer.

Simon Reithmeir made two saves on the night and now sees his season record move to 1-1-1.

The Bearcats conclude their tour of the Sunshine State with a 1 pm meeting with Lynn University on Sunday, September 4.
