GREENWOOD - After knocking off the defending Peach Belt Conference champions for the first time since 2018 on Friday night, Lander repeated their success on Saturday afternoon at Horne arena. Once again, the crowd played a major factor with their vocal support of these Bearcats.
The 1st set began with LU scoring and then never looking back. The Bearcats went the entire set without trailing once. They were lead by Maya Walker with 4 kills and Katie Miller with 3 kills, respectively. As a team, Lander had 3 aces total. After a late surge by the Saints, LU pulls away for the 25-21 win.
The 2nd set was much closer but also included 0 lead changes with the Bearcats leading or remaining tied the entire set. Patricia Pantoja and Madilyn Reed lead the way with 5 digs between the two seniors. After another late push by the Saints would not be enough. Bearcats win, 25-21.
The 3rd set would be much closer as it included 2 lead changes and 11 ties. The Bearcats would be lead by junior Olivia Dow who had 5 kills and had a hitting percentage of .500. After trailing late, LU would pull off a comeback for the 26-24 win.
This is the first 8 game win streak for the Bearcats since 2014. They remain undefeated in conference play.
The Bearcats continue Peach Belt Conference play this Friday at 6:00pm against USC-Aiken.
