GREENWOOD - The Lander men's soccer team played its second straight home game this week as they fell 4-2 to the University of Tampa at
Van Taylor Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
Lander falls to 2-2-2 overall while Tampa improves to 2-3-0 overall.
The first half was close in offense production, as the Bearcats attempted four shots and the Spartans attempted five.
Tampa would be first to strike as the Spartans took an early 1-0 lead in the fourth minute. Lander would respond with a goal from
Carson Dinger who received a pass from
Max McNulty and found the bottom left of the goal from the top of the box.
The second half would see the Spartans fire home three more goals compared to the lone goal from Lander.
Tampa would go up 2-1 in the 53rd minute before
Kevin Rubaszewski would tie the game up at 2-2 on a penalty kick.
The Spartans would score 21 seconds after Rubaszewski's PK and would extend the lead even more with another goal in the 66th minute.
Keanu Ridgill made three saves in his second start of the season. Ridgill is now 0-1-1 on the season.
Lander returns to conference action as it travels to USC Aiken on Wednesday, September 14.
