LAKELAND, Fla. - In their first action of the 2022 season, the Lander volleyball team fell 3-1 to both Lynn and Florida Southern Friday afternoon.
Match One
Lynn jumped won the first two sets to take the early lead, but Lander responded with a 25-19 win in the third set to make it 2-1. Lynn held off the Bearcats 25-23 in the fourth set to secure the win. Freshman Katie Miller led the Bearcats with 14 kills, and Maya Walker added 10. Madilyn Reed dished out 28 assists, while Patricia Pantoja had 14 digs. Walker finished the match with three blocks, and Annie Holesinger had two service aces.
Match Two
The host Mocs took set one, but Lander answered with a 25-21 win in set two to tie the match. Florida Southern took the third and fourth sets to pick up the win.
Miller led all players with 17 kills, while fellow freshman Halle Michael had 13. Pantoja had a game-high 16 digs, and Reed had 35 assists. Miller added ten digs and three service aces in the loss.
