COLUMBUS, Ga. - In their opening-round match of the Peach Belt Championship, fourth-seeded Lander defeated fifth-seeded Augusta 4-0 to advance to the semifinals. The Bearcats will now take on #1 seed Flagler tomorrow at 4:00 PM.
Nick Beamish and Markus Sorensen won their number one doubles match 6-1, and Thomas De Negri and Hugo Regner won their number three doubles match to clinch the doubles point for the Bearcats.
Alexandre Crepy won his number six single match 6-1 and 6-2 to make it 2-0. De Negri followed with a 6-1, 6-1 victory at number two singles, making the score 3-0. Matthew De Groot clinched the win for Lander with a 7-5, 6-1 win at number five singles and advancing the Bearcats to the semifinals.
