Men's Lacrosse sets program record for goals scored in a 25-4 victory over Shorter

GREENWOOD – The Lander men's lacrosse team set a program high for goals scored in a game when it took down Shorter 25-4 at Van Taylor Stadium Saturday for Senior Day.

Lander moves to 11-4 overall and 4-0 in the PBC while Shorter drops to 3-12 overall and 0-4 in the PBC.

The Bearcats were led in scoring by Carter Wilcox's four goals. Rob Gadomski and Carter Clark both had three goals each. Lander saw 14 different goal scorers against the Hawks. Wilcox also led the Bearcats in points with five after recording one assist. Tyler Kralj led the way in assists with three. Jake Watson and Blake Moore both picked up eight ground balls. Watson went 8-of-9 in face-offs while Moore went 12-of-15 in face-offs for the Bearcats. Luke Zirnsak, Drew Wilson, Sterling Blake and Jake Mintz all were tied in caused turnovers with two each. The Bearcats caused 14 turnovers overall.

The Bearcats scored the first 13 goals to begin the contest, with the Hawks not scoring their first goal of the game until the 7:59 mark on a man-up opportunity in the second quarter.

Lander would take a 15-1 lead into the half before scoring 10 goals in the third quarter alone.

The Bearcats wouldn't be able to score in the fourth, but the Blue and Gold would see a comfortable 21-goal cushion by the time the final horn sounded.

Locked into the top-two spots for the PBC men's Lacrosse Tournament, next Saturday's match against Alabama-Huntsville will determine who will be the No. 1 Seed. The top two seeds earn an auto-bye into the semifinals.
