Greenwood, S.C. - Acrobatics & Tumbling scored their highest of the season as hosts of Wednesday's tri-meet against Belmont Abbey and Chowan on Senior Night. A score of 266.835 bested Chowan's 121.725, but not enough to overthrow Belmont Abbey's score of 273.990.
The Bearcats started the night with a score of 37.95 out of 40 during Compulsory. They had a near perfect pyramid heat, scoring 9.9 out of 10. Lander continued applying pressure with the Acro event, that only had 0.65 deductions. It was more of the same during the Pyramid event with only 0.45 in deductions. Both events totaled 29.35 each, as the Beacats held a 0.55 lead on Belmont Abbey to end the first half.
Lander kept the competition tight, scoring a 26.50 in the Toss event, with the highest score coming in the Open heat. The Tumbling event totaled a 53.475, highlighted by a 9.35 aerial pass performance by
Julie Szmitko. Right before the final scores were announced, seniors
Sarah Calk and
Bailee Younce were honored as apart of Lander's Class of 2022. The night wrapped up after the Team event, where the Bearcats scored 90.21 out of 100.05. Lander heads to Limestone on April 1st to end the regular season.
