GREENWOOD, S.C. - Trailing 14-5 after three quarter, Lander would score nine goals in the fourth quarter to force overtime and go on to defeat Belmont Abbey 15-14 Wednesday night in women's lacrosse action. The win avenges a 23-14 loss to the Crusaders in 2021.

Alyssa Suchan put the Bearcats up 1-0 with a goal at the 12:13 mark. The Crusaders answered with two coals in a 30 second span to take the 2-1 lead. With 7:30 remaining in the period, Emmy Peterson scored to tie the game at two. Belmont Abbey again scored two goals quickly to regain the lead. A goal my Melissa Clapsaddle with just under two minutes left made it a 4-3 game. |

Suchan added her second goal of the game 45 seconds into the period to tie the game at four, however the Crusaders scored five goals to end the period with the score 9-4. |

The Crusaders added two more goals in the first three minutes of the second half to make it an 11-4 game. Suchan scored her third goal of the night to cut the Belmont Abbey run, but the Crusaders would take a commanding 14-5 lead into the final period. |

Less than a minute and a half into the fourth period, Lauren Fallow scored to make it 14-6. Clapsaddle added her second gaol of the game with just over 11 minutes remaining to cut the deficit to seven. Mickey Burnett would add two goals in less than a minute and the Bearcats were within five goals. Clapsaddle's third goal made it 14-10 with 5:34 remaining. Playing a man down, Emma Arifin and Clapsaddle added a goal each to make it a 14-12 game, and Burnet scored with just under three minutes remaining to cut it to a one goal lead. Peterson scored with just over 30 seconds remining to tie the game and send it into overtime. |
