Women's Tennis Advances to the City of Florence Championship Game

Florence, S.C. - The Bearcats finished the first day of competition 2-0 at the City of Florence Invitational, earning a spot in the championship game on Sunday. 

The first round of the draw included three singles wins against Mount Olive. Maranda Adair won in two sets at No. 2 singles with 6-1, 6-2 scores. Mille Elsborg secured the No. 3 singles spot as well, winning 6-4, 6-5. Emily Ineson took No. 6 singles with 6-2, 6-3 wins. The doubles point was collected by two wins. The pair of Chiara Gerbino and Roberta Armani, and doubles team Adair and Raquel Acco both earned 7-6 victories. Women's tennis beat Mount Olive 4-1 to advance. 

Coker was the Bearcats' second opponent of the day, finishing 5-0 versus the Cobras. The duo of Elsborg and Ineson finished with a score of 6-3, while Adair and Acco had another doubles victory of 6-4. Elsborg competed in No. 3 singles with two set triumphs of 6-3, 6-0. The No. 4 singles spot was filled by Acco, as she came away with 6-4, 6-1 wins. Ineson completed the day at No. 6 singles with 6-3, 6-2 wins. 

The championship game against Newberry starts at 11 am on Sunday, Feb. 6th at the Dr. Eddie Floyd Florence Tennis Center in Florence, S.C.
