GREENWOOD - The Lander softball team travels down to Florida to open the 2022 season. The Bearcats play Tampa Saturday at noon and Eckard Sunday at noon.

• Saturday will mark the first time in program history that the Bearcats have squared off with Tampa.
• Lander has faced Eckard three times, with the Tritons holding a 3-0 advantage. The last time the two teams met was in 2018.
• On offense, Lander returns Logan Coward, who hit .322 with six doubles, two home runs, and 12 RBI's in 34 games.  
• Also returning is Bridgett Tierney, who played in 16 games and hit .365 with two doubles, two triples, 17 runs scored, and was 10-10 in stolen bases.  
• In the circle, the Bearcats return all five pitchers that saw action in 2021. Liz Gollin led the team in strikeouts with 74 in 88.2 innings pitched, while Barbara Cook finished with 66 strikeouts and led the staff with seven wins.
