Bearcats host Flagler Saturday to finish the regular season

GREENWOOD, S.C. -   The 8th-ranked Lander women's basketball team wraps up the regular season tomorrow as they host Flagler at 1:30 PM.

STORYLINES

  • The Bearcats wrapped up the regular season on the road Wednesday by defeating Young Harris 75-50.
  • The win extended Lander's streak of seasons with 20+ wins to eight. 
  • In the second NCAA Regional polls released Wednesday, Lander remained in second place, just behind North Georgia. 
  • Vashae Rideout scored a career-high 17 points on 8-13 shooting to lead the Bearcats. Miriam Recarte added 15 points, while Makaila Cange 14 points and pulled down 13 rebounds for her 15th double-double of the season. Amiaya Melvins had a team-high five assists along with eight points.     
  • Lander leads the Peach Belt and is fourth in NCAA Division II in assists per game (17.9). They are also first in the PBC and third in the country in scoring margin (20.3). The Bearcats lead the PBC in assist-turnover ratio (1.07), field-goal percentage (44.7), and scoring offense (79.0). They are also second in assists (412), blocked shots per game (4.4), and rebound margin (7.3).
  • Cange currently leads the PBC and is second in the country in field-goal percentage (67.6), first in the conference, and ninth in Division II in offensive rebounds per game (4.5). She is also first in the conference in points per game (19.7) and free throws made (114). She is second in rebounds per game (10.3) and double-doubles (15).
  • Miriam Recarte is first in the conference and is 3rd nationally in blocked shots per game (3.00) and is second in the PBC in blocked shots (69).
  • The Bearcats have won 14 out of their last 15 against the Saints, including their current six-game winning streak.  
  • Last time out, Flagler defeated Georgia College 103-68 on Wednesday.
