GREENWOOD - The Lander softball team co-hosts the Bearcat/Fleet Invitational this weekend. The tournament will feature Coker, Emmanuel, Lincoln Memorial, Carson-Newman, Georgia Southwestern, and Concord, with games being held at Lander and Erskine.
- The Bearcats enter the weekend having won 13 games in a row after sweeping their four games in the Bearcat Round Robin last weekend.
- Shannon Antonini led the Bearcats at the plate, hitting .667 (8-12) with four runs scored, five RBIs, and three stolen bases. Bridgett Tierney hit .417 (5-12) with three runs, one RBI, and three stolen bases. Olivia Veidt had a home run and five RBIs.
- Liz Gollin went 2-0 in two appearances in the circle, striking out 13 batters in 11 innings, and allowed just one run on five hits. For her performance, Liz was named Peach Belt Pitcher of the Week. Barbara Cook threw a complete-game shutout, allowing just two hits and striking out three.
- The Bearcats lead the Peach Belt and are second in the country in total sacrifice bunts (17). Lander also leads the conference and is fourth in Division II in stolen bases (46). They lead the PBC in double plays (6), double plays per game (0.43), ERA (2.33), stolen bases per game (3.29).
- Rebecca Boesen currently leads the PBC and is third in Division II in saves (2).
- Gollin is second in the PBC in hits allowed per seven innings (4.5).
- Tierney is second in the Peach Belt in sacrifice bunts per game (0.36) and third in the conference in stolen bases (10).
- Antonini is second in the PBC in sacrifice flies and is third in RBIs (18).
- Sage Jones is second in the conference in stolen bases (11) and third in stolen bases per game (0.79).
