Men's lacrosse scores a season-high 20 goals - Defeats Emmanuel 20-5

FRANKLIN SPRINGS, GA. – The Lander men's lacrosse scored a season-high 20 goals as it rolled over the Emmanuel College Lions 20-5 for its third consecutive win of the season.

Lander moves to 3-0 overall while Emmanuel drops to 0-2 overall.

Carter Wilcox led the Bearcats with five goals and points with seven. All seven of his shots were on target against the Lions. Adam Mather and Drew Wilson were close behind with three goals each. Blake Moore collected a team-high four ground balls while Trenton Thomas, Caedmon Ferrell and Liam Mackay all picked up three. Thomas led the way in caused turnovers with three on the day.

Emmanuel would be the first to score, with the initial goal coming with 12:16 left in the first quarter. Mather would tie the contest with 12:02 left in the first and would have to tie the game once more with 7:11 to make it a 2-2 contest. Charlie Pouland and Nolan Oakey would close out the scoring for the first quarter with Lander up 4-2.

The Bearcats would turn up the heat, as the Blue and Gold would fire home eight goals while just allowing one. Wilson would score two of his three goals on the game in the second quarter. Wilson and Wilcox would contribute the first four goals of the quarter before Emmanuel scored their lone goal of the second frame.

Wilcox would be the sole source of offense for the Bearcats in the third, as he scored all three of Lander's goals in that quarter.

Lander would see Sean Reilly, Rob Gadomski, Andrew Dappen, Carter Clark and Owen Ciali all score in the fourth.

The Bearcats would fire 36 of their 47 shots on goal.

Mackay got the start against Emmanuel and earned his third win of the season after playing 30 minutes. Nicholas Paige and Rhys Peterson both made appearances, with the pair making two saves each.

The Bearcats play their first home game of the season with a visit from Lincoln Memorial on February 19.
