Greenwood, S.C. - The Bearcats clawed back in season opener against No. 7 Converse, pulling within 4.40 points before heading into the Team Event. Converse secured the win during the final event winning 259.835-247.155.
Lander started out the night on the Compulsory event. They outscored Converse in the Tumbling Heat totaling 8.25 completing the Compulsory event with a 32.60 score. During the Acro event, the Bearcats earned their highest score in the 7-Element heat receiving a 9.10 out of a 9.85 start value. Lander started off Heat 1 of the Pyramid event with their strongest score of the event earning 9.85 point. The Valkyries ended the first half up 93.15-85.05.
The Bearcats opened the second half closing the gap on Converse, scoring a Toss event total of 26.00, only 0.85 less than The Valkyries had for the same event. Lander inched even closer during the Tumbling event outdueling Converse in all six heats, scoring a total of 52.625. The Bearcats ended the night with an 83.48 Team event score.
The Blue and Gold are back in competition on Feb. 28 at Emmanuel.
