GREENWOOD - The Lander softball team opens up the hope portion of their schedule this weekend as they host the Brianna Surrento Kickoff Classic this weekend. The Bearcats will host Erskine College, Mars Hill University, the University of West Georgia, and Frostburg State.
- Last Saturday, Lander opened up the season with a doubleheader split with Tampa, losing the first game 1-0 and winning the second 3-1.
- Haven Pesce was 3-5 with a double in the two games, while Shannon Antonini was 2-3 with a double and run scored. Logan Coward added two hits and an RBI. Rebecca Boesen picked up the win in game two allowing just one hit and striking out four in seven innings.
- On Sunday, Lander swept a doubleheader from Eckerd, winning game one 5-0 and game two 2-1.
- Pesce had a home run and four RBI's in game one, while Antonini had a single, run scored, and RBI. Sarjarie Joes was 2-2 in game two with two walks and a run scored, and Lauren Collie and Barbara Cook each had a double and RBI.
- Reagan More recorded the win in game one, allowing no runs on four hits and striking out six in five innings of work. Boesen came out of the pen in game two, allowing four hits and striking out two in six innings to grab her second win of the weekend.
