Men’s Tennis Announces 2023 Schedule

Greenwood, S.C. - Head Coach Brett Simpson released the upcoming schedule for men's tennis 2023 season.

The Bearcats concluded last season with a 17-6 overall record, including a .500 record in the Peach Belt Conference. Men's tennis also advanced to the NCAA Southeast Regionals in 2022.

Men's tennis will compete in two exhibitions to tune up for the regular season. Lander will host Presbyterian on Jan. 20 and will travel to Georgia Gwinnett on Jan. 31.

The Bearcats start off February at the City of Florence Invitational (Feb. 3-4) to begin the Spring season. Men's tennis comes back to the Joe Cabri Tennis Center for three non-conference matchups. First, Carson Newman battles Lander on Feb. 10, and Lees-Mcrae visits the next day (Feb. 11). Emmanuel faces off against the Bearcats on Feb. 22.

The Blue and Gold play a familiar PBC foe at Augusta on Feb. 28 for their first conference match. Francis Marion will visit Lander on Mar. 2, followed by five consecutive away games. The Bearcats start their road trip at Lenoir-Rhyne (Mar. 5) then head to Savannah, Georgia at a neutral site against Barry (Mar. 7). Men's tennis wraps up the trip in-state at USC Sumter (Mar. 16), Newberry (Mar. 18), and North Greenville (Mar. 21).

The continuation of PBC play happens on Mar. 24, battling at home with North Georgia, then hosting Young Harris the following day (Mar. 25). The Bearcats are back on the road in April, facing Georgia College (Apr. 1), Columbus State (Apr. 2), and Limestone (Apr. 11).

Lander finishes the regular season hosting Flagler on Apr. 14 before the start of the Peach Belt Conference Tournament in Columbus, Ga. (Apr. 21-23). NCAA Regionals and Nationals take place on Apr. 29-30 and May 11-18 respectively.

There are three Bearcats that will begin the season in the ITA rankings. Hugo Regner is ranked 29th in the nation for Singles in Division II (fifth in the Southeast Region). Regner is also ranked 20th in the Doubles Division II rankings along with Matthew De Groot (fourth in the Southeast Region). Ambroise Marchand is currently 10th in the Southeast Region for Singles.
