No.7 Lander wrestling demolishes Allen and Emory & Henry at Horne Arena Thursday evening

GREENWOOD - The No. 7 Lander wrestling team ran wild at Horne Arena as it took down Allen University 51-0 and Emory & Henry College 52-6 Thursday evening in a tri-meet.

Against Allen, Lander did not concede a single point with wins coming at all 10 weight classes. Nine of the 10 matches brought home bonus points for the Bearcats.

Lander began the match with a pin from Kaiden Fisher at the 2:30 mark of the match to take an early 6-0 lead. Lander would then see back-to-back tech falls from Elijah Lusk and Zeth Brower to grow the lead over the Yellow Jackets to 16-0.

Bryson Ethington would earn the second pin of the match with it being recorded at the 2:45 mark. David Hunsberger uses a first-period tech fall to keep the points coming in for the Bearcats. Gage Bernall would win via a forfeit at 174 before Logan Hall would battle his way to a 4-0 win by decision.

Anthony Yacovetti won via a pin just 20 seconds into his match at 197 before Grayson Latham took a 9-1 win by major decision to close out the match.

Nathan Buckovich would battle his way to a second period pin in an exhibition match at 197.

Joey Felix took the first pin against the Wasps, as he pinned his opponent at the 1:24 mark in the first period. Lusk earned his second tech fall of the night as he won 18-0 at 133 with a takedown and three four-point near falls and a pair of two-point near falls. Brower was next in line to win by pin as he took down his opponent just 45 seconds into the first period. Caleb Cox kept the first-period pin party going with a pin at 149 at the 1:47 mark.

Randy Myers was explosive at 157, pinning his opponent at the 2:38 mark of the first period before Hunsberger followed up his tech fall against Allen with a pin 57 seconds into the first period. Bernall would record a win by pin at 174 in the second period. Before pinning his opponent, Bernall had recorded two four-point near falls and a two-point near fall in the first period.

Hall would win by forfeit at 184 before Yacovetti cruised to another win with an 18-0 tech fall in the first period.

The Waps would win by pin at 285 for their only points of the match.
