DAHLONEGA, Ga. - Although allowing the first goal of the game, the No. 12 Lander men's soccer team battled tough on the road to come away with a 4-1 victory at North Georgia on Wednesday.
Lander moves to 9-2-4 overall and 8-0-2 in the PBC while North Georgia falls to 4-9-1 overall and 1-8-2 in the PBC.
North Georgia would score their lone goal in the first half, as the Nighthawks would scare the Bearcats with a strike in the 34th minute of play. North Georgia's goal was the only shot to go on target the entire game.
The Bearcats would respond with four goals in the second half.
Lander would tie the contest in the 51st minute as
Marco Gueli would score his team-leading ninth goal to even the contest 1-1 off an assist from
Carson Dinger.
The scoring would continue in the 53rd minute, as it would be Dinger getting the goal this time around off an assist from
Max Bolton to give Lander a 2-1 edge. Dinger is now up to four goals this season.
Jed Smith would convert a PK in the 68th minute for his third goal of the season to push the Bearcats' advantage to 3-1.Â
Max McNulty would conclude the Bearcats' scoring with a strike in the box off an assist from
Julien Sagnol to get Lander to its 4-1 advantage.
Lander would finish the game with 21 shots taken and six on goal compared to the six shots attempted by North Georgia with just the lone shot on goal for the Nighthawks.
Lorenzo Ferrari moves to 5-0-2 this season with the win.
Lander is off to St. Augustine, Fla., to battle the Flagler Saints for its next contest on Saturday.
