GREENWOOD - Lander swept Young Harris 3-0 Saturday afternoon to complete the season sweep of the Mountain Lions.
Leading 5-4 in the first set, the Bearcats ran off ten-straight points to take a commanding 15-5 lead. A kill by Annie Holesinger ended the set, giving Lander a 25-11 win.
Trailing 3-1 in the second set, Lander again went on a run, scoring seven straight points to take an 8-1 lead. Young Harris cut the deficit to 8-6, but Lander scored eight unanswered points to take a commanding 16-6 lead and go on to a 25-12 win. The Bearcats held off a late rally by the Mountain Lions in the third set to take a 25-21 win to complete the sweep.
Christina Aguayo led all players with 16 kills, while Katie Miller added 10. Madilyn Reed recorded her fifth-straight double-double, dishing out 33 assists with a game-high 13 digs while leading the team with four service aces. Patricia Pantoja added 12 digs and Miller had 11 to complete a double-double. Maya Walker and Annie Holesinger had three blocks, while Aguayo added two.
