STORYLINES
- The Bearcats won their fifth straight game when they defeated Columbus State 83-71 on Dec. 17.
- The Bearcats also picked up their fifth straight home victory when they took down the Cougars.
- Dominic Stanford led all scorers with 22 points after going 8-of-13 from the field and 4-of-6 from 3-point range.
- Stanford was named PBC Player of The Week where he added six rebounds and two blocks.
- Lander had four players hit double-figures in scoring, with Nigel Colvin, Jared Sherfield and DaJuan Moorer joining Stanford.
- Stanford has led the Bearcats in scoring the past two games, as he put up 19 points against Claflin on Dec. 11.
- Lander went a perfect 4-0 in December.
- In all six of their wins this season, Lander has defeated opponents by 10 or more points.
- Lander is ranked in the top-30 nationally in a couple of categories. The Bearcats are currently 18th in FG defense, 29th in scoring defense and 30th in 3pt FG made per game with and an average of 10 per game.
- This will be the 104th meeting between Lander and USC Aiken. The series stretches back to 1975 when both schools competed at the NAIA level.
- The Bearcats lead the series 52-51.
- Lander is 21-32 on the road against the Pacers all-time.
- Due to COVID restrictions last season, Lander and USC Aiken played four times and went 2-2.
- Lander concluded the 2020-21 season at home against USC Aiken, winning 77-70 at Horne Arena on February 27, 2021.
- Down 32-28 after the first half, Lander rallied to outscore the Pacers 49-38 in the second half.
- Moorer had a double-double against the Pacers as he put up 23 points, 12 rebounds, three blocks, two assists and two steals. His 23 points led all scorers in that game.
- Aiken comes into this meeting 7-4 on the year and 1-0 in the PBC.
- The Pacers most recently fell in double overtime to Wingate 90-86.
- Aiken has also gone up against a pair of nationally-ranked opponents this year, losing to then-No. 17 Lincoln Memorial 84-82 and No. 23 Florida Southern 99-86 early in the season.
- Aiken's lone conference win was on Dec. 16 when they defeated Georgia Southwestern 68-53 at home.
- Aiken is averaging 81.9 points per game this season, good for third among PBC teams this season.
- The Pacers also ranked in the top-four in rebounds in the PBC. They are third for rebounds per game with 39.5 while also ranking fourth in rebounding defense with 33.5 rebounds allowed per game. Aiken is also second in the PBC in offensive rebounds per game with 13.2.
