STORYLINES

• The Bearcats will be competing for the first time since traveling to the Midwest Classic in Indianapolis, Ind., on Dec. 18.
• Lander had eight wrestlers compete in the Midwest Classic, with Darius Parker advancing to the second day and finishing with a 3-2 record. Parker won by tech fall in two of his three wins.
• Other Bearcats to post wins were Elijah Lusk, Bryson Ethington, Jack Bond and Carter Shipp.
• Lander was supposed to wrestle Lincoln Memorial on January 6 and Truett McConnell on January 12, but both matches were canceled.
• Lander has gone 4-2 this season overall and 2-0 in the SACC. The Bearcats have defeated Mount Olive and Emmanuel for conference action.
• The Bearcats saw four Bearcats ranked in the recent InterMat rankings. Lusk was ranked 14th in the 141 weight class, Zeth Bower was ranked 15th in the 141 weight class, Gage Bernall was ranked 15th in the 165 weight class and Cameron Coffman was ranked 14th in the 285 weight class.
• Lander will first face Queens (N.C.) for the first of two matches on the day.
• The Royals are currently 1-10 on the season, with the lone win coming against NAIA Montreat. Queens has also gone up against Div. I opponents North Carolina and The Citadel, losing 48-0 and 30-10.
• Queens is also 0-4 in the SACC this season. They lost a pair of close matches to Mount Olive and Belmont Abbey by a combined four points.
• The Royals have also gone up against five nationally-ranked opponents this season. (Life Uni. #2 NAIA, UNC #12 Div. I, Newberry #22, University of Pitt.- Johnstown #16, Kutztown #12).
• Queens has one nationally ranked wrestler in the most recent rankings from InterMat. Melvin Rubio is 16th at the 125 weight class.
• Coker is 3-1 so far this season. They hold wins over Mount Olive, St. Andrews and Allen. The Cobras' sole loss is to Limestone.
• Coker last saw action at the Midwest Classic, as its matches against King and Newberry were both postponed.
• Coker has two wrestlers ranked in the recent InterMat rankings. Zachary Van Last was ranked 12 at the 149 weight class while Corey Christie was ranked 16th at the 165 weight class.
• Lander will host King at Horne Arena on January 27 for its next contest.
