FLORENCE, S.C. - The No. 10 Lander men's soccer team suffered its first loss of the season as it fell 2-1 to Chowan.
Both Lander and Chowan move to 1-1-0 overall.
Neither team was able to find the results they were looking for in the first half, although not without chances. Both Lander and Chowan were able to each put a shot on goal in the first half.
The first goal of the game didn't come until the 70
th minute when
Max McNulty fired home his first of the season off a blocked shot initially taken by
Marco Gueli to give the Bearcats a 1-0 edge.
Toby Sims of Chowan put away the equalizing and go-ahead goal for the Hawks in the 75
th and 87
th minute of action to give Chowan their first win of the season.
Lander has its first home game of the season on Wednesday when Newberry comes to
Van Taylor Stadium.
