YOUNG HARRIS, GA. – The Lander men's soccer team fought hard till the end but were unable to take down no. 12 Young Harris Saturday afternoon.
Lander drops to 5-3-0 overall and 2-1-0 in the Peach Belt Conference while Young Harris advances to 7-0-0 overall and 3-0-0 in the PBC.
The Bearcats struck first in the 11th minute of play. Carson Dinger scored his first goal of the season after a pass from Max McNulty to give Lander a 1-0 advantage.
The Mountain Lions would strike twice in the first half, with goals coming in the 18th and 32nd minutes of the game to put the hosts up 2-1 at the half.
Both teams took 11 shots for the match, with Lander putting four on net and Young Harris putting five on target.
The two sides would each have plenty of scoring chances in the second frame, but neither side was able to produce any more goals.
Lander returns to Van Taylor Stadium for its next match with Clayton State coming to Greenwood on September 29.
