Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Men's soccer races past USC Aiken - wins 6-0

GREENWOOD – The Lander men's soccer team raced past the USC Aiken Pacers to the tune of a 6-0 victory at Van Taylor Stadium Wednesday evening.

Lander moves to 5-2-0 overall and 2-0-0 in the Peach Belt Conference. USC Aiken drops to 1-5-0 overall and 0-3-0 in the PBC.

With the win, Lander has won the last seven matches against Aiken.

The Bearcats saw four players supply goals against the Pacers, with Max McNulty and Marco Gueli both scoring two goals.

Tom Marriott increased his team-high in goals scored to nine and added in three assists as well.

Lander controlled the game from start to finish with the Bearcats scoring the first goal of the game in the 4th minute of play. McNulty scored his first of the night on an assist from Kevin Rubaszewski.

McNulty would double his goal total on the night with another success strike, this time an assist going to Mariott in the 22nd minute of play. After his performance against the Pacers, McNulty has scored at least one goal in the last six games.

Marriott secured his ninth goal of the season in the 34th minute from an assist from Max Bolton.

The Bearcats would go into the half up 3-0 after taking 14 shots compared to Aiken's three. Lander allowed no shots on goal in the first frame of action.

Gueli found his two goals in the 46th and 51st minutes of play. McNulty and Marriott assisted on the two strikes to put Lander up 5-0.
  Charlie Curtis finished off the scoring in the 54th minute, putting away his second of the season. The freshman defender has found the back of the net in back-to-back games.

Simon Reithmeir  is now 5-2-0 in net for the Bearcats this season. Jacob Withers played over 19 minutes in net to close the game out. He made one save.

Lander returns to action this weekend for a battle with no. 12 Young Harris on the road.
