GREENWOOD – The Lander volleyball team gets the show started with the Queens Fall Classic in Charlotte, N.C., on September 3 and 4.

STORYLINES
- The Bearcats went 3-11 this past spring. Although struggling the past season, Lander kept pace with plenty of its opponents, with four of its losses coming down to the fifth set.
- Christina Aguayo led the Bearcats in kills with 159 and 2.94 kills per set. Madilyn Reed set the pace with 423 assists for Lander along with an average of 7.83 per set. Maya Walker led the Blue and Gold in Blocks with 36 while Alexa Barral led the squad in blocks per set with .81.
- This is the first season under head coach Jeff Reynolds. Reynolds last served as the head coach of Snow College in Utah last season.
- The Bearcats last competed in the Queens Fall Classic in 2019 where they went 4-0 against Grand Valley State, Queens, Belmont Abbey and Converse. Lander went 20-10 that season where they eventually fell to Flagler in the PBC semifinals.
- Lees-McRae went 8-6 last season. Queens went 7-5 where they eventually fell to Wingate in the SAC semifinals. Wingate went 11-2 where they won the SAC tournament before losing a pair of matches in the AVCA National Championship to Texas A&M International and Harding. Elizabeth City did not compete last season.
- Lander will battle Lees-McRae and Queens on Friday while taking on Wingate and Elizabeth City on Saturday.
- The Bearcats are back in action on September 7 as they make the short trip to Erskine for a 6 pm contest.
