Bearcats fly high over Erskine - Win 4-0 to conclude non-conference action

DUE WEST, S.C. – The Lander men's soccer team concluded the non-conference portion of its schedule after it defeated Erskine 4-0 with Tom Marriott having a two-goal day.

Lander improves to 4-2-0 overall while Erskine drops to 0-5-0 overall.

With the win, the Bearcats continue their stretch of not dropping a match to Erskine since September 8. 2010, and are now 7-0-3 in that span.

Lander struck early in the first half, with Charlie Curtis heading a bouncing ball in the 9th minute of play put the Bearcats ahead.

Marriott, who now has a team-high eight goals on the season, put his seventh off a pass from Marco Gueli to make it 2-0 in the 26th minute.

The Bearcats would not be able to strike again in the first frame, as the Blue and Gold held a 2-0 lead at the half.

Lander allowed zero shots on net in the first half.

Marriott would find the back of the net again in the 52nd minute, with Kevin Rubaszewski earning his third assist of the season.

Max McNulty would score his fifth of the season off an assist from Rasmus Andersson to cap off the Bearcats 4-0 day in the 78th minute.

Simon Reithmeir recorded his first shutout as a Bearcat and moves to 4-2-0 on the season in net for the Blue and Gold.

Lander returns to PBC action with a visit from USC Aiken on September 22.
