DAHLONEGA, Ga. - The No. 5-ranked and second-seeded Lander men's tennis team ended its season on Saturday afternoon against No. 10-ranked and third-seeded North Georgia in the NCAA Southeast Regional semifinals at the UNG Tennis Center.
The Bearcats (14-3) fell to the Nighthawks (12-4) 4-2, ending Lander's season. North Georgia will advance to the region championship match on Sunday. Lander was appearing in its 15th consecutive NCAA Tournament.
The Bearcats fell behind early despite Kim Oshiro and Jamieson Nathan's 6-4 win at No. 2 doubles when UNG won in a tiebreaker on court one to earn the day's first point. The Nighthawks built a 3-0 lead with two wins in singles action before Tommaso Rossin delivered a 6-1, 6-4 victory at No. 6 to put the Bearcats on the board. Guillaume Tattevin's 6-3, 7-5 win at the No. 3 spot pulled Lander within one, but North Georgia captured the match-winning point on court four.
