Box Score 2 ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. – The Lander softball team fell in a PBC doubleheader at Flagler on Friday, dropping games 4-2 and 3-1.
Flagler struck first in game one, taking a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first on an RBI groundout. Logan Coward doubled home the tying run in the top of the second and Morgan Watson's sacrifice fly out Lander up 2-1 in the third inning. However, the Saints reclaimed the lead with two runs in the bottom of the third and tacked on an insurance run in the sixth.
Barbara Cook allowed four runs on seven hits with four walks and four strikeouts in 5.1 innings for Lander.
Lander took the initial lead in game two when Kyrah Phelix scored on an error in the third inning. Flagler responded with a run on an error in the fourth to tie the game, then played two runs in the sixth to take a 3-1 lead it would not relinquish.
Liz Gollin surrendered one earned run off seven hits and one walk with four strikeouts in 5.2 innings of work.
The Bearcats welcome Georgia College to Greenwood next Sunday.
