MONTEVALLO, GA. – Although falling to the Montevallo Falcons 15-13 in a tight contest, Alyssa Suchan set a new single-game record for goals scored with seven.

Lander falls to 3-6 overall and 0-3 in the GSC while Montevallo moves to 8-3 overall and 2-2 in the GSC.

Suchan accounted for over half the Bearcats' goals, as she put seven away on 13 total shots. She also collected two ground balls. Jenny Tellez helped the Bearcats on the defensive side, causing three turnovers and collecting four ground balls.

A back and forth game to begin between the two sides, the Bearcats were able to gain separation from Montevallo in the first half after Suchan scored with 29:17 remaining to give Lander a 3-2 edge. The Bearcats would score two unanswered goals from Emmy Peterson and Suchan to go up 5-2 with 17:52 remaining.

Montevallo would begin its comeback, scoring four consecutive goals to take a momentary 6-5 lead before Suchan fired home a goal with 2:58 left in the first frame to tie things up at 6-6.

The Falcons would counter, as the home squad scored two goals to close out the first half with an 8-6 lead. Montevallo started the second half with a goal to take a 9-6 advantage with 29:02 left. Melissa Clapsaddle scored one of her three goals to stop the Falcon's scoring spree and make it a 9-7 contest with 23:11 remaining.

Lander would cut the lead to one goal numerous times late in the second half. The last of which came with 5:43 left when Suchan scored to make it 12-11 Montevallo.

The Falcons would end the game on a 4-1 run to take the win.

Lander stays on the road as it concludes the season against the Chargers of Alabama Huntsville.
