GAFFNEY, S.C. – The Lander women's tennis team tallied its fourth consecutive road victory as it took down Limestone 6-1 at the Emmie Evans Rector Tennis Center.
Lander began the win with a clean sweep of doubles. Chiara Gerbino and Raquel Acco started with a 6-1 win at the No. 2 spot while Eduarda Ferreira and Maria Rey clinched the win with a 6-4 win at the No. 1 spot. Roberta Armani and Lindsey Wiggins won 7-5 at the No. 3 spot as well.
The Bearcats started singles play with a win at No. 4 singles as Rey won 6-0,6-2 to put Lander up 2-0. Ferreira pushed the Bearcats closer at the No. 1 spot with a 6-4,6-1 victory while Wiggins clinched the victory at 4-0 with a 6-3,6-0 win at No. 6 singles. Armani took a 3-6,6-1,10-3 victory at the No. 5 singles spot while Gerbino won 3-6,6-3,10-3 for the sixth point of the match for Lander at the No. 2 singles spot.
The Bearcats finish up their long road stretch with a trip to Columbus State on April 3 before finally coming home on April 9 to host Georgia College.
