Box Score GREENWOOD – The Lander women's soccer team ended its 2021 spring campaign with a 2-0 victory over in-state PBC rival USC Aiken on Thursday night at Van Taylor Stadium.
Lander applied pressure from the start of the match, attempting four shots in the first five minutes before Gracie Beeson found the back of the net at the 6:31 mark to put the Bearcats on top, 1-0. Lander's defense held the Pacers without a shot for the first 21:36 of the night and the Bearcats held a one-goal advantage at the intermission.
The Bearcats put the finishing touches on the victory in the 67th minute. Following a corner kick, Reyna Bueno connected with Kelsie Fisher, who beat the Pacer keeper and gave Lander a 2-0 lead. Lander would hold on from there as Sarah Owen made three of her seven saves in the final third of regulation and sealed the shutout win.
Beeson and Fisher end the season as Lander's top goal scorers with three each. Lander outshot USC Aiken 19-11 on the evening and earned a season-high seven corner kicks.
