Box Score GREENWOOD – The No. 4 Lander men's soccer team concluded its regular season with a 3-1 victory over Clayton State at Van Taylor Stadium Thursday.
The Bearcats move to 8-0-0 while Clayton State drops to 3-7-0.
In total, the Bearcats fired off 20 shots with eight finding their way towards goal.
Lander got on the board first in the ninth minute of play, with junior Liam Doyle putting away his first goal of the season to give the Bearcats an early 1-0 advantage. The Lakers struck back in the 25th minute of action to tie things up 1-1.
The Bearcats wouldn't stay tied with Clayton State for long in the second half, with two goals coming within a minute and a half of each other. Sophomore Max Bolton scored his fifth of the season in the 47th minute of play while sophomore Max McNulty scored his sixth of the season in the 48th minute to give Lander their 3-1 edge.
Junior goalkeeper Jacob Withers earned his seventh win of the season after making two saves on the day.
Lander will be back at Van Taylor Stadium on April 7 to host a PBC semifinal match against an opponent to be named later.
