Lander set to host Walsh Sunday afternoon

GREENWOOD – The Lander softball team face Walsh in a non-conference doubleheader at 2:00 and 4:00 p.m. on Sunday at Doug Spears Field.

STORYLINES

Lander and Walsh have met twice heading into Sunday's contests. The Bearcats lead the all-time series 2-0. The last time the two teams met was Mar. 1, 2020, when Lander won 5-3. In that game, Lander erased a 3-1 deficit with four runs over the final four innings.
The Bearcats earned a pair of run-rule wins on Tuesday against Converse, beating the Valkyries 11-0 and 9-1. Rylee Omahen, Shelby Davies, and Haven Pesce all had two RBI on the day.
Guerrero currently leads the Peach Belt Conference with 16 RBI and 19 hits.
Bridgett Tierney's 10 stolen bases is also a PBC-high this season.
The Bearcats tallied five doubles in their second win over Converse on Tuesday, the most in game since Lander hit five two-baggers in a 10-0 victory over USC Aiken on April 28, 2019.
Sunday marks the 13th and 14th home games this season for the Bearcats. Lander is not scheduled to play a game away from home until Mar. 27, when the Bearcats head to North Georgia for a PBC doubleheader.
The Bearcats have swept two of their last three doubleheaders and have won six of their last seven games.
