GREENWOOD – The Lander wrestling team wasted no time getting back to its winning ways as the Bearcats trampled Allen University 53-0 at Finis Horne Arena Thursday evening.
Lander is now 4-2 overall and has equaled its win total from last season.
The Bearcats saw six pinfalls on the nights, with four straight to end the contest.
The first of those pins came from freshman Kaiden Fisher, who earned his first dual meet win at Lander. Sophomore Elijah Gray took the second pinfall of the night. He is 5-1 at the 133-weight class so far this season.
Sophomore Ezekiel Marquez obliterated his opponent, earning A 20-2 technical fall to make it 17-0 Lander. Freshman Toby Foster earned his first victory as a Bearcat with a 16-2 major decision at the 149-weight class.
Senior Jauquin Olivas earned a decision to move to 4-1 on the season. Freshman Gavin Brady also joined the party with a technical fall to pick up his first win as a Bearcat.
Redshirt sophomore Jack Bond, sophomore Ryan Humel, sophomore Darius Parker and freshman Cody Fleming all won by pinfall to close the night out.
Lander is back in action on February 7 as it travels to face Mount Olive.
