Bearcats post third straight shutout - Win 4-0 at Flagler

Box Score

ST. AUGUSTINE, FLA. – The Lander men's soccer team enjoyed a pleasant trip to the Sunshine State with a 4-0 victory over Flagler on Sunday.

The Bearcats are now 3-0-0 while the Saints drop to 0-1-1.

Lander has allowed zero goals through the first three contests to begin the season. The last time the Bearcats saw this happen was back in 2013 when they didn't let up a goal in their first six games.

Lander saw the usual high-octane performance from its offense, with 10-of-18 shots going on goal.

Flagler attempted nine shots, with just one reaching junior goalkeeper Jacob Withers.

Lander started off with an early goal during the 13th minute, as sophomore Max McNulty wired a ball to the top right of the goal off a pass from senior Tom Marriott to make it a 1-0 game. Not much else would change in the first frame, as the Bearcats took their 1-0 lead into the half.

The Bearcats continued the offensive mismatch, as Marriot would fire a free kick during the 52nd minute that pinged off the crossbar for his second of the season. Both Marriot and McNulty lead the team with two goals so far.

Junior Luke Jordan joined in on the action, as he put away a rebound off a shot from sophomore Alistair Danjon during the 74th minute to make it 3-0. Sophomore Timon Windisch scored the final goal from sophomore Max Bolton in the 85th minute to complete the 4-0 drubbing.

Withers is now 3-0 on the season with three clean sheets as well. Through the first three games, he has only had to make five saves.

The Bearcats begin the month of March on the road, as they head to North Georgia on March 1.
