NEWBERRY, S.C. – The No. 6-ranked Lander men's tennis team did not surrender a set as the Bearcats cruised to a 7-0 road win over Newberry on Tuesday afternoon.
Lander (3-0) took control early as Adam Elliget and Hugo Regner claimed a 6-2 win at No. 1 doubles, followed by a 6-0 win at the No. 2 spot from Martyn Icke and Matthew De Groot.
Kim Oshiro led the way in singles, earning a 6-0, 6-0 win at the No. 5 position. Mikael Erler dropped just one game at No. 2 and Tommaso Rossin earned a 6-2, 6-1 victory at No. 4. Thomas De Negri won 6-2, 6-2 at the top spot and Stanimir Petrovic's 6-3, 6-4 victory at No. 3 capped the shutout over the Wolves (0-2).
Lander opens a three-match homestand on Friday afternoon as the Bearcats host Emmanuel at 2:00 p.m. at the Joe Cabri Tennis Center.
