Box Score GREENWOOD – The Lander men's soccer team used a pair of early goals and stellar defensive tactics to shut down the Georgia Southwestern Hurricanes Tuesday night at Van Taylor Stadium.
The Bearcats now move to 2-0-0 on the season while GSW drops to 1-1-0.
With the victory, Lander has now won 200 home matches since joining the PBC in 1991 and now stand at 200-54-15 in that timespan.
Lander's offense was electric against the Hurricanes, with 21 shots being taken with 11 going on target.
It didn't take long for one of those shots to find its way home, with sophomore Max McNulty scoring his first goal of the season just 12 minutes into the contest. The Bearcats weren't done just yet, as senior Tom Marriott doubled the lead at the 29-minute mark.
Junior Jacob Withers earned his second clean sheet in as many games, turning away all three shots he faced.
The Bearcats will take a trip to the Sunshine State to battle Flagler on February 21 for their next test.
