GREENWOOD – The Lander men's soccer team was unable to contain the No. 5 team in the country, as it fell 4-1 to Young Harris at Van Taylor Stadium Saturday afternoon.
Lander falls to 8-5-0 overall and 5-3-0 in the PBC while Young Harris moves to 12-0-1 and 8-0-1 in the PBC.
The Mountain Lions were clinical with their shots, with all but one of their shots on goal going in.
Young Harris started the first half with goals in the 18th and 43rd minute of play to take a 2-0 lead into the half.
The Mountain Lions took six shots compared to three from the Bearcats.
Things looked to be going in the other direction, as Max McNulty fired a missile that struck the crossbar and pinged in for the first goal of the game for Lander in the 66th minute. Kevin Rubaszewski picked up his sixth assist of the season on the goal.
Lander would push up the field in hopes of creating more offense, but the Mountain Lions would strike two more times to finish the game up 4-1.
Lander is on the road next week, starting with a trip to Clayton State on Wednesday.
