Box Score PEMBROKE, N.C. - The Lander men's basketball team fell to UNC Pembroke, 104-85, Wednesday night at English E. Jones Center.
With the loss, Lander falls to 10-4 (4-2 PBC), while UNC Pembroke improves to 11-4 (4-2 PBC).
Elijah Alston led the Bearcats with 18 points as he shot 6-of-10 from the field, including 4-of-7 shooting from long range. He also added six rebounds and two steals.
Alston was joined in double figures by three other Lander players. Sidney Robinson contributed a season-high 17 points, LaRaymond Spivery had 13 points, and Tyler Brevard added 11 points.
Lander entered the game second in the NCAA in rebound margin but was outrebounded 39-28.
The Braves started the game hot from three-point range as they scored seven threes in four minutes of play. The Bearcats continued to battle, but the Braves matched them on every possession. The Bearcats would go into the halftime down 54-41.
The Bearcats would come out of the break and attempt to claw back as they would cut the deficit to 70-60 with 13:01 left in the game. However, the Bearcats could not get consistent stops on defense as the Braves would have an answer for everything. The Braves would continue to make shots as they would close the game out.
Lander returns to action Saturday when it hosts North Georgia. The game will begin at 3:30 p.m. and will be live-streamed on the Bearcat Broadcasting Network.
