GREENWOOD – The Lander men's tennis team's 2019-20 slate has been officially released, head coach Brett Simpson announced on Saturday.
After three fall events (Belmont Abbey Invite, ITA Southeast Regional, SC Men's Collegiate Championships), the Bearcats begin dual match play with an exhibition against NAIA power Georgia Gwinnett on Jan. 31 before taking on Valdosta State on Feb. 2. Following the City of Florence Invitational (Feb. 7-8) and a trip to Emmanuel (Feb. 12), Lander hosts Peach Belt Conference foe Augusta in the home opener on Feb. 13. Belmont Abbey visits the Joe Cabri Tennis Center one week later, followed by home matches against Queens (Feb. 22) and Georgia College (Feb. 27).
March begins with a test at Lenoir-Rhyne (Mar. 1) before a three-match homestand against USC-Sumter (Mar. 3), Limestone (Mar. 16), and Newberry (Mar. 20). The Bearcats make their first conference road trip on Mar. 22 to play Flagler and face Alabama Huntsville in Milledgeville, Ga., the following week.
The final month of the regular season starts with a home match against Johnson C. Smith (Apr. 1), followed by trips to North Georgia (Apr. 4) and Young Harris (Apr. 5). The Bearcats host Columbus State in the final home match of the regular season on Apr. 11. Lander then travels to North Greenville (Apr. 15) and visits Francis Marion (Apr. 18) in the regular-season finale.
