No. 7 men's tennis ends PBC Tournament run in semifinals

FLORENCE, S.C. – The No. 7-ranked and fourth-seeded Lander men's tennis team advanced to the Peach Belt Conference Tournament semifinals for the eighth consecutive season on Saturday afternoon, defeating No. 16-ranked and fifth-seeded North Georgia 4-2 before falling to No. 1-raned and top-seeded Columbus State 4-0. 

Lander (17-5) was knotted 2-2 against the Nighthawks (15-7) after earning the doubles point with a 6-1 win from Axel Cronje and Adam Elliget at No. 1 and a 6-2 victory from Ozan Cildir and Omar El-Moslemany on court two. UNG tied the match with the first singles point before Aly Zaghloul notched a 6-0, 7-5 win at the No. 4 spot to put the Bearcats up 2-1. North Georgia answered with the tying point before the bottom portion of Lander's lineup took over. Thomas De Negri rallied for a 2-6, 7-5, 6-4 win at No. 5 and Adam Elliget put the Bearcats in the semifinals with a 3-6, 6-3, 6-3 comeback victory at the No. 6 spot. 

Facing the nation's top team, the Bearcats' tournament run came to an end as the Cougars (22-2) posted their third consecutive shutout to advance to the championship match. 

Lander will now wait to see if it will advance to its 14th consecutive NCAA Tournament.
