Women's tennis punches ticket to PBC Tournament

AMERICUS, Ga. – The Lander women's tennis team secured a berth in the Peach Belt Conference Tournament with a 6-1 win over Georgia Southwestern in the regular season finale on Saturday afternoon. 

Lander (8-14, 2-7 PBC) opened the day with a pair of wins in doubles action. Isabella Schulz and Eduarda Ferreira posted a 6-3 victory at No. 1 and Manasi Ramadani and Lucia Ric added a 7-5 win at the No. 3 spot to clinch the day's first point. 

In singles play, Ferreira rolled to a 6-2, 6-0 win at No. 1, while Nelli Lius earned a 6-2, 6-2 victory on court three. Lindsey Wiggins cruised in a 6-0, 6-0 win at the No. 4 spot. Ric grinded out a 6-2, 4-6, 10-8 victory on court five and Ramadani rallied for a 6-7, 6-4, 10-5 win at No. 6. 

The Bearcats will be the No. 8-seed in the PBC Tournament and will face top-seeded and No. 6-ranked Columbus State on Apr. 19 at the Dr. Eddie Floyd Florence Tennis Center in Florence, S.C.
