Women's tennis shuts out Young Harris, 6-0

GREENWOOD – The Lander women's tennis team posted its first Peach Belt Conference win of the season on Sunday afternoon as the Bearcats blanked Young Harris, 6-0, at the Joe Cabri Tennis Center. 

Lander (6-12, 1-5 PBC) won the doubles point dye to Young Harris (0-9, 0-4 PBC) only having one doubles team on hand. The Bearcats dominated on courts five and six in singles, as Lucia Ric and Manasi Ramadani combined to surrender just one game. Isabella Schulz won in straight sets at No. 1, 6-2, 6-3. Lindsey Wiggins earned a three-set win at the No. 3 spot, 6-0, 1-6, 6-3. Nelli Lius completed the shutout at No. 5, rallying for a 4-6, 6-2, 11-9 victory. 

The shutout win marked Lander's first shutout in PBC play since Feb. 25, 2017. 

The Bearcats open April competition on Wednesday afternoon with a 3:00 p.m. home match against North Greenville.
